Many of us wanted it and Hollywood finally got around to giving it: Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in the same movie. Unfortunately Angelina looks frail and Johnny looks schlubby. Talk about missing the mark. I'm being particularly superficial because these two weren't paired for their acting abilities and I wonder what went wrong... I mean.. really? It's like casting Bruce Willis and Sly Stallone in an action movie and they can't even outrun a train or lift a boar over their heads. Or casting Tom Cruise and he can't do his maniacal laugh. Or Julianne Moore full frontal. These are just some of the attributes we come to expect from our actors and when they aren't delivered we must wonder what went wrong. In the case of Johnny and Angelina in this film looking the way they do I will assume there was an oversight when the contracts were drafted and the two didn't care enough to feed into appearances. They are rebels after all.

What a fun sexy time they could have had in Europe with the tourism and intrigue if this were filmed before all the babies and burgers.

I feel the same way about Gia Coppola that Vincent Gallo once (and possibly still) felt towards Sofia which is, "Who cares what Sofia Coppola is doing? The first sentence doesn't really apply since I am curious about "the next Coppola director" but I'm with Vincent on the last two since what she's put out so far leaves a lot to be desired.

This is the only video on Gia's vimeo that I enjoyed then the credits appear and we learn it is Spike Jonze's brainchild. Her other videos are nice but they are very... "of course." She seems to share Sofia's aesthetic without being able to do something interesting with it. It's all just kind of pretty and boring. A blogger/reviewer/I can't even remember described the trailer for Sofia's Somewhere as "irritatingly artsy-leisure class" and I feel that's a good way to describe Gia's short films. Can we send her to Werner Herzog's boot camp? Though maybe her feature films will be something different. Perhaps she'll blow us away.
